Always true to Recreating my special Vintage hand Wind Pattern These were the special guitars, that always sounded better then others of the same vintage! "known as the keepers" its a well known fact that some of those old guitars, sounded much better then others just like them!, it was those special guitars pickups that i've worked so hard to clone their sound. The fine coil wire is always "Finger-Guided" onto each coil. the coils wind pattern I selected, is always used and my coils are wrapped the same on each and every pickup I have ever wound here, 16 years of providing Vintage Tone

1950-to-'64 is my thing, I have back-engineered some of the best of those old hand-wound pickups and settled on one special style of winding my coils.
I use it on all my pickups.
All my DON MARE pickups: - Have great organics & Breath / Air - A really amazing player's touch - helps you to play! - They are Pick-attack sensitive and have very rich harmonics - have perfect volume and note bloom
- NEVER Ice-Picky's or Treble heavy - always Ear Candy and sweet on the top-end.
They really seem like they breathe and feel alive.
They are replicas of what I feel was the best vintage pickup tone to be found.
They can really inspire, making the strings sound better and thicker. Your amp's tubes suddenly sound better. They'll never hit dead ends or road blocks. And they do not limit your playing in any way shape or form. Instead they can really inspire you to develop further than you could dream was possible.
My true vintage purist customers will verify this stuff on GOOGLE Search of "Don Mare Pickups" 16 years of reviews can be found.
- No metallic harshness - No ice pick at all - No bright ear snap - No meshing or loss of single notes
Thanks for looking at my site! Don Mare

Note from Don:
The best way to compare my pickups is at a Vintage Guitar Show or a store that sells loads of vintage. That's how we did our testing here for many years, until we were 100% confident that I had unlocked Fender's® best ever Vintage pickups.
Put any pickup I make up against an equal vintage counterpart and let it speak for itself. Take the other maker's with you and do the same comparisons. Otherwise its all "he said she said"- I like oranges, you like apples...etc. But that was never my quest. I was out to nail vintage tone or nothing. I never wanted to sell a thing. My quest was a personal one for me and a few artists I was tech-in for. vintage purist those guys are the toughest pickup customers on earth! Ive made almost every single one happy to date! If you ever think you have a partsocaster with real vintage tone, do yourself a favor and do what we did- get out there and do a few A & B test comparisons with real vintage guitars. Preferably with lots of them. Now, if you can walk away happy, prior to my winding these pickups we did these test and felt; -- "Hey, it seems were always only 85% max in reaching vintage tone on the 100% mark , because it's that 10% or 15% that will drive us all nuts. we did the same test to my pickups untill we flat out nailed it! When you have owners of vintage guitars telling you they hear everything in yours that's in that vintage (Some even saing they like yours a little more) then its mission accomplished! At least it was for the artist and myself here. And that's the day I opened to the public- not one day earlier. I was dead set on getting this tone or die trying. -Don Mare PS.. youtube "10k keefer"
